We loved the new Duchess of Cambridge’s dress – she wore the dress - the dress did not wear her, and that is a triumph for putting the customer and her tastes first. We applaud this approach to design.
So often Designers think they should impose their vision on the customer – but this was a fine example of the customer being at the centre of the design not a victim of it. Clearly her Sister Pippa’s dress was sensational, classy and just a tad too sexy for the occasion maybe! But oh so elegant.
Here at Design IQ we have a lot of knowledge of clothing from years of designing technical and fashion sport clothing . We believe that bags should be as much about the body as clothes are – they both have to interact with the body, fit well and be comfortable to carry in many positions, and we take inspiration from all occasions and walks of life to try and create aesthetically pleasing functional products. We may not be designing wedding dresses’s today (!) but applaud good design when we see it. Hurrah!
We are pleased to have been asked to design cycling bags for a major British Distributor…we have an innovative new fixing system, and have been asked to design bags using this system – there is a limit on what we can say about this project – but suffice to say that the user is at the centre of the product specification so the bags will be easy and comfortable to use in all bike – work – leisure situations. Oh! and they look cool for both men and women too.
Cycling is a tremendously hot market area now, and is a growth area – so Design IQ are pleased to be involved in this project.

Interesting that word has got around on www.everywoman.com about our part in helping entrepreneur launch her buggy bags brand “hampster bags”. It’s great when we get word of mouth reccomendations from customers….

Design IQ first Newsletter will be sent out in the next couple of days. We are working on a new newsletter processing company called mailchimp and expect to launch with them for 2011. We will make sure all newsletters say something of value for readers – we will include snippets of Trend advice and advice how to use design to create commercial benefits.
Design IQ founder Guy Mathiot will be at IPSO in Munich in February and China in mid-March – and would be interested to meet anybody interested in Design projects.
